PostNL is one of the oldest and most reliable postal and parcel service providers in the Netherlands, serving customers since 1998. The company offers a wide range of postal services, including letter mail, parcel mail, newspaper mail, and advertising mail. PostNL operates both domestically and internationally with delivery points in more than 150 countries.
PostNL also allows you to track your parcel through their track & trace online service. PostNL Track & Trace is an online international tracking system that lets you monitor the progress of your parcel through a unique barcode on your receipt.
As one of the largest players in the e-commerce market, PostNL provides you with real-time updates on the status of your orders, which can help reduce anxiety and improve overall customer experience. Generally, you can track the progress of your PostNL package using the official website, the Official Mobile App, and TrackingMore (a third-party platform).
One of the great features of TrackingMore is that it can track not only PostNL packages but packages from over 1100 different logistics service providers (LSPs). So, if you have multiple packages from different carriers, you can track them all in one place with the help of TrackingMore.
PostNL tracking number is a unique 13-character barcode assigned to a package or shipment. It serves as a reference for tracking the package's journey from the point of origin to its destination for both the sender and recipient. The PostNL tracking number can be found on the shipping label that is affixed to the customer's package. It can also be found in the confirmation email that the customer received from the retailer when they placed their order.
For domestic deliveries, PostNL uses the 3S code which typically starts with the number 3 or 2 and the letter S, followed by a combination of letters and numbers (e.g. 3SABCD1234567). The first letter in the barcodes defines the service type. There is no standard use for the second letter, that is defined by the sending party itself. Most starting letters in use are U, R, L, A, C, and E. Where "R" is registered up to 2kgs and limited to approx. shoebox format so does not have to be a letter. However, for missed deliveries, the code will start with the letters' kg followed by some numbers (e.g. kg123456).
In the case of international deliveries, especially ones outside Europe, PostNL couples the 3s with s10 (e.g. AA000000009NL). The first two letters are service indicator codes which are assigned by the issuing country but some codes are used by all countries. The service indicator code is followed by an 8-digit serial number and a single check digit. The last two letters signify the country that created the code (usually the country it was shipped from).
Currently, packets (L), Unregistered (U) and registered items (R) do not receive an additional 3s barcode and can be tracked via the s10 barcode in the PostNL systems.

PostNL is the primary postal and parcel service company in the Netherlands. Founded in 2011, it emerged from the split of TNT N.V., which was previously the Dutch national postal service and express delivery company. As an independent entity, PostNL retained the postal and parcel divisions, focusing on mail and parcel delivery services.
PostNL's business scope encompasses a wide range of services, including domestic and international mail delivery, parcel delivery, e-commerce logistics, and value-added services like track and trace. Thanks to a strong network in the Netherlands, Belgium, and Luxembourg as well as 150 countries, PostNL generated €3.5 billion in 2021 from 350 million parcels.
The company has undergone significant developments and innovations in the postal industry. Over the years, it has adapted to changing market demands, evolving from traditional mail services to embrace digitalization and e-commerce logistics.
PostNL boasts one of the best customer support in the industry. You can call its customer service hotline or email customer service representatives to assist you with inquiries and support related to mail, parcel deliveries, tracking, and other services.
PostNL is also active on various social media platforms, such as Twitter and Facebook. You can send them direct messages or post inquiries publicly, and their social media team will typically respond to your questions or concerns.
Alternatively, you can visit the official PostNL website and navigate to the customer service section to find answers to frequently asked questions (FAQs) or access their contact form. You can use the contact form to submit specific inquiries or issues.
